The last book (1960) by Anton T. Boisen is his autobiographical case study. Written in his 80's and just five years before his death, Boisen delves deeply into his own experience of schizophrenia and hospitalization that stirred his search for meaning and understanding, of unrequited love and personal loss, and what led to the creation of clinical chaplaincy and the form of clinical training now known as CPE (clinical pastoral education). 

This edition includes a new foreword by Glenn. H. Asquith, Jr., new introduction by Robert Charles Powell, and new afterword by Raymond J. Lawrence, Jr.
